Judge Teresa J. Waldrop has served as the presiding judge of the 312th Family District Court in Harris County since January 1, 2023, following her election in November 2022. Her current term runs through January 1, 2027.
Judge Waldrop earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1987, and her Juris Doctor from St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio in 1991. Before ascending to the bench, she spent more than 30 years practicing law, with a substantial portion of her career devoted exclusively to family law matters. She is Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, a designation she has held since 2009, reflecting her depth of experience and commitment to the field.
Her experience also includes service as Vice-President of the Federation of Houston Professional Women and leadership roles in local bar organizations, showcasing her longstanding engagement in the legal and broader community
