280th Family District Court

Judge Damiane Dianne Curvey is the presiding judge of the 280th Family District Court in Harris County, a court that primarily handles protective-order matters and related family law cases. She assumed the bench on January 1, 2023, following her election in November 2022; her current term runs through January 1, 2027. 

A native Houstonian, Judge Curvey was admitted to the Texas State Bar in 2005 and is also licensed to practice in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas (since 2006). Over nearly two decades in private practice, she gained extensive courtroom experience, handling thousands of cases spanning family law, criminal, juvenile, and probate matters — experience she now brings to her work presiding over protective order proceedings.
