Judge Angela M. Lancelin assumed the bench of the 245th District Court on January 1, 2023, following her election in November 2022. She holds a Juris Doctor from Texas Southern University Thurgood Marshall School of Law (J.D., 1991) and earned her undergraduate degree from University of San Diego.
Before joining the bench, Judge Lancelin amassed nearly three decades of litigation experience. For 26 of those years, she served as an Assistant Attorney General with the Office of the Texas Attorney General, where she managed complex civil and bankruptcy litigation across multiple regions (Regions 5, 6, and 20) and was designated as a “special litigator” by the Office. Judge Lancelin is also licensed to practice in the Southern, Northern, and Eastern U.S. Bankruptcy Courts. This background contributes to her deep understanding of financial and family-law matters.
On a personal level, Judge Lancelin is a single mother. According to her campaign materials, she values diversity, integrity, and transparency. She has expressed a commitment to making the 245th Court a safe, respectful space where all parties — regardless of background — can be heard and can access the justice system with equal dignity.
